About the Author
Mark Ryan, a graduate of Brown University and the University of Wisconsin Law School, has been teaching math since 1989. He runs the Math Center in Winnetka, Illinois (www.themathcenter.com), where he teaches high school math courses including an introduction to geometry and a workshop for parents based on a program he developed, The 10 Habits of Highly Successful Math Students. In high school, he twice scored a perfect 800 on the math portion of the SAT, and he not only knows mathematics, he has a gift for explaining it in plain English. He practiced law for four years before deciding he should do something he enjoys and use his natural talent for mathematics. Ryan is a member of the Authors Guild and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Geometry Workbook For Dummies is Ryan’s fourth book. My high school daughter was struggling with some high school geometry curriculum. I got this book thinking it would be helpful. It really wasn't. She still had trouble grasping it, and then I tried myself (it's been a long time since I took geometry), and I struggled as well. Maybe it's just one of those things...a teacher once told me some people tend to grasp algebra better and some tend to grasp geometry better. I don't know? But this really didn't help us much at all. We both liked Danica McKeller's book, Girls Get Curves. Even some of that was difficult, but we had much more success with that one. We both seemed to learn more from it.
I purchased the books to assist my daughter in her geometry class. She stated that she was more confused after using it than before
Bought this for my grandson who was having difficulty with 10th grade Geometry. He has been using it and says that he has a better understanding of the subject.
Good for high school students. I tutored in a high school student and we followed the book materials. He learned a lot before the other students by going through this book
